Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) is the Scottish Government’s national strategy for strengthening links between businesses and education, better preparing young people for the world of work. The headline aim of the programme is to encourage and support more employers to engage directly with young people, in and out of education, and encourage and enable more employers to recruit more young people and promote diversity in their workforce. DYW Dumfries and Galloway has a business-led approach and aims to ensure that young people in our region have work-relevant experience and opportunities. We collaborate with schools, colleges, jobcentres, and youth groups to bring industry in front of young people and give first-hand experience via #WorkReady projects. From 2020, variants of these projects will be available online via the DYW Dumfries & Galloway YouTube channel. DYW DG works in partnership with trade associations and employers, encouraging them to play an active role in helping to inform and shape the education system. Employers can then help create and educate the talent pool they need and benefit from the fresh perspective that young employees bring to the workplace and improve their skills for their working lives and help them make informed and ambitious choices about their jobs and careers. #WeBridgeTheGap #TryB4uBuy #WorkReady #DYWScot Info: www.dywdg.co.uk
