The primary purpose of the role is to lead and/or support the development and delivery of health workforce initiatives/programmes that ensure our health and disability system has the right people with the right skills, in the right place at the right time to meet the changing and increasingly complex health needs of New Zealanders now and in the future.
The success of our Health Workforce Plan relies on effective planning, development, implementation and support. The Senior Advisor will be responsible for leading and supporting the translations of operational policy into initiatives and programmes of work providing oversight and input into their delivery, support and monitoring. The Senior Advisor will need to manage multiple workstreams and work within prescribed timeframes.
As Senior Advisor the role also includes robust reporting, ministerial servicing (Briefings, Ministerial, direct responses) support for OIAs/ Workplans and other Programme updates and/or meeting requests.
About you
You have advanced analytical and technical skills, with the ability to collect, assimilate and summarise raw data in a structured and methodical way. You are comfortable turning complex information into meaningful datasets that support robust analysis and informed decision-making.
You bring experience in developing and advising on complex planning processes, contributing to the successful implementation of high-impact initiatives. You are able to think strategically while maintaining strong attention to detail, ensuring plans are practical, achievable and well executed.
You are highly proficient in relevant data analysis and reporting tools, including Excel, Word and Power BI, or other comparable data handling applications. You use these tools confidently to produce clear, accurate and insightful reports.
You demonstrate strong organisational, planning and time management skills, enabling you to manage competing priorities, multitask effectively and adapt as requirements change. You take personal responsibility for delivery and are driven to achieve high-quality outcomes.
