Job Summary

Guides Center for Workforce Development clients through a full spectrum of employment services, from initial assessment to training/education, job placement, and retention follow-up. This specialist provides intensive one-on-one counseling and instruction to assist clients in securing stable, quality employment and developing long-term career enhancement plans. This role serves as a crucial link between motivated job seekers and local employer needs.

Duties and Responsibilities

Client Service and Case Management:

  • Effective and Efficient Case Management: Maintains a high-level of case management proficiency, focusing on detail, efficiency, and resourcefulness to manage a complex client caseload.
  • Detail and Compliance: Ensures all client case files and records are thorough, accurate, and compliant with program standards and funder requirements.
  • Barrier Removal: Proactively assesses individual barriers (e.g., transportation, childcare, housing) and coordinates barrier removal services swiftly to keep clients engaged in training and employment.
  • Counseling and Planning: Provides individualized counseling and instructional services to help clients define career goals, understand labor market trends, and develop personalized career enhancement plans. Identifies and addresses social support needs that function as barriers to success, performing warm handoffs to external agencies for necessary services.
  • Job Readiness Support: Assists clients directly with resume preparation, interview preparation (including mock interviews), completing job applications, and professional networking strategies.
  • Assessment: Administers and interprets pre-employment, skills-based, and placement assessments to ensure accurate job alignment

Employer Engagement and Job Development:

  • Relationship Building: Fosters beneficial relationships with strategic partners and new business contacts to develop and grow the League's partnership portfolio.
  • Develops and sustains strong, collaborative relationships with employers across high-demand industry sectors (e.g., manufacturing, healthcare, logistics) to identify and secure job openings.
  • Works closely with Department Leadership to grow current and new partnerships
  • Recruitment and Placement: Conducts focused recruitment and outreach efforts to identify qualified clients to fill specific employer positions, serving as the employer's primary talent source.
  • Follow-Up: Communicates with placed clients and employers to monitor job satisfaction, address retention barriers, and ensure long-term stability following program contact follow-up/retention requirements.

Training and Development:

  • Provides input and feedback on program curriculum based on current labor market demands and employer requirements.
  • Develops and presents informational presentations to address current and emerging client, program, and community needs.

Program Support:

  • Assists Department Leadership with recruitment and outreach efforts to identify qualified individuals for program enrollment.
  • Hosts a minimum of six LUL tabling events per year.
  • Collaborates with the Marketing and Communications team to execute marketing and social media campaigns.

  • Proven ability to manage a large, complex caseload with exceptional organizational detail and adherence to documentation deadlines.
  • Excellent writing skills including the ability to prepare resumes and cover letters.
  • Working knowledge of social media including: LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc..
  • Energetic professional with initiative that is goal-oriented and outcomes-driven.
  • Independent worker who works well in a team environment under limited supervision.
  • Detail-oriented and commitment to thoroughness, quality and accuracy.
  • Strong technical skills with experience in Google applications and competencies to learn and use applications used by the organization, i.e., SalesForce.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain relationships with internal customers and external businesses and organizations.
  • A valid driver’s license, auto insurance and reliable transportation is required

Education and Experience

  • Three years of experience in career counseling, job development, recruitment, or workforce programs.
  • Two years of dedicated experience providing holistic case management, coordinating support services, and maintaining detailed, compliant case files for complex populations.
  • Experience using social media for outreach and professional network development.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Business, Human Resources, or a related field; OR equivalent field experience.
